Mahoor was born summer ‘63 in Mashhad, Iran. From a young age, he was captivated by the world of music. He began to play piano at the age of 9 and won his first contest at age 11. No matter where he was, Mahoor always strove to develop his skills with anything in connection with the music world, whether it was his ability as a pianist, learning new instruments such as guitar, accordion, and keyboard, or writing music sheets, learning theoretical music, and the art of solfege.
Mahoor has lived and studied abroad most of his life. His studies included international law and criminology. As a young adult, he spent time in Japan. Being captivated by the art of the Samurai, he felt lucky to have the opportunity to apprentice under Aikido & sword masters. Mahoor has experienced life in many different cultures, which has given him an understanding of human nature that he considers invaluable.
Since arriving in Norway, Mahoor has worked actively with various musical and cultural departments, along with dedicating his time to teaching solfege, piano, and guitar. His students range from age 5 to 60. As a teacher, Mahoor uses music as a healing tool, especially in helping children with various types of challenges in their young lives, in addition to adults who struggle with depression.
With over 40 years of experience, Mahoor’s goal has been to create soulful music that he hopes touches the hearts and souls of his listeners. He works actively with Persian poets and composers who share his desire to spread hope, joy, love, and freedom through his music.
Mahoor has performed in concerts worldwide. In addition to love songs, Mahoor uses his voice freely and explicitly in support of democracy and freedom in Iran, and against the dictatorship and cruelty because of the heart-breaking events that are affecting the lives of all Iranians, both socially and politically, especially for those who live inside Iran.
Mahoor’s first album, Eshghe Bozorg (Great Love) released in December 2016, was produced in collaboration with well-known poets and composers such as “-Alireza Afkari-”.
